What are the core security concepts behind understanding, properly architecting and building a secure solution? Have you heard of trust, least trust, authentication, authorization, integrity, non-repudiation, cryptography, PKI, SSL, DMZ, SSO, delegation, and more? This session will look at core security concepts and the roles they play in a secure solution. We will also look at how secure SSL really makes a system: Is it enough or not?
Interested in WS-Security? In this session we will look at what WS-Security is all about, and where the standards are today. We will also look at some examples around the technology, such as passing identities, encryption and signing, and the pieces and parts needed to make them work.

Denise Hatzidakis is a Managing Director and Chief Technologist with Perficient, Inc. Denise was undecided in college and left with a BS in Physics and a BS degree in Computer Science followed by a MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Having had enough of school, she joined IBM and spent 12 years as a lead developer for VisualAge and WebSphere in various capacities. She joined Perficient, Inc. in October 2001 where she makes extensive use of her skills as a consultant in WebSphere and J2EE technologies as she stays one step ahead on the latest technologies, loving to learn new things.
